“Their new record could take the band in a bold new direction. Exciting times’’ NME
Formed in Hackney in 2012 Splashh was the brain child of Toto Vivian and Sasha Carlson. Growing up between the South Pacific and the UK (Carlson and Vivian are from New Zealand and Australia) they took the influence of the more sombre greyer UK shoegaze sound and infected it with a dreamy, fuzzed-out kaleidoscope of colour. The retro vibe of beach slackers about to hit the open road. Splashh burst onto the scene in 2012 with the single ‘All I wanna do’’ from their home recorded debut album ‘Comfort’. They quickly became one of the most buzzed bands around with rave reviews from NME, BBC, The Guardian, KEXP, Dazed and Confused, Triple J, Line of Best Fit etc. Appearances at large festivals followed : Reading, Leeds, Latitude, Field Day as well as tours with DIIV, Peace, Parquet Courts, Primal Scream.
In 2015, the band divided themselves between London and New York City for a time of "self-imposed exile to write.” The idea being that the time apart, and the different influences of the two cities, would bring a new dimension to the music. With the addition of new members Jaie Gonzalez and Tom Beal, plus the production skills of Nicolas Vernhes (War on Drugs, Deerhunter, Dirty Projectors), the sound this creative time cultivated has been beautifully captured on their second album 'Waiting A Lifetime’ April 2017. The first single ‘Rings' was released to strong critical acclaim and sold-out shows in London and New York followed. It seems Splashh are all set to have a second bite at the cherry.
We are delighted to welcome Splashh to Hong Kong as part of their first Asia/Australia tour. |
